FAQs

Do I need a doctor’s referral to come to physiotherapy?

A referral from your doctor is not required to receive physiotherapy unless you are being treated for a WorkSafeBC or ICBC claim. Some private insurance companies require a doctors referral before providing extended coverage however each one is different so it is best to check your personal plan.

How long will my appointment take?

Please arrive promptly to fill out an intake form.

The length of your appointment will vary depending on your situation. Generally initial appointments take about 45 – 60  minutes and subsequent visits are usuallly 30 – 45 minutes.

Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?

  • Doctors referral (if you have one)
  • Personal Health Number
  • Shorts – If you are being treated for a back, hip, knee, ankle or foot problem
  • Shoes/orthotics – If you have a lower extremity injury related to a sport it may be helpful for you to bring whatever shoes (including orthotics) you use to participate in that sport
  • WorkSafeBC
    • Doctor referral
    • claim number
    • Carecard
    • Case Manager’s name and number

Are we in contact with your doctor?

If your doctor needs to be aware of any specific concerns, or if reporting is done for WorkSafeBC or ICBC, we will fax them a note or report, or have you deliver it.  Reports are not routinely done.  If you require a special report or copy of records, there is a fee for that, depending on the number of pages involved.
